A fantastic opportunity has arisen within a leading international life support services company for a highly experienced and committed Air Freight Manager / Movements Manager.
The successful Air Freight Manager / Movements Manager will be responsible for planning the most appropriate consolidation & loading services by Air, ensuring cost-effective & secure solutions utilizing current dedicated resources and managing the freight from point of origin (SHJ) through to the end customer within the specified timeframe as indicated by the customer.
The role will involve frequent liaising with the Aviation division and moving food and non food cargo via 747 and IL76 aircraf
Key Tasks of the Air Freight Manager / Movements Manager will include:
- Track and monitor all inbound freight both re export and locally purchased items through Non Food purchasing team.
- Develop and ensure receival and dispatch methods coincide with all SOP’s and internal procedures and process flow charts.
- Ensuring that warehouse personnel is trained and competent with all procedures and reports required to effectively receive, track and trace freight to the end user. Provide regular training periodically or if and when required.
- Ensuring all imports/export shipments are cleared through customs within a minimum timeframe with proper documentation in order.
- Working closely with Aviation team, plan the most suitable aircraft to suit the RDD daily demands and priorities for both food and non food items.
- Receival and collation data of customer forecasts such as Jafco FF&V (food), daily receival of Non food items, additional food and non food items arrival for re export to Afghanistan.
- With the Jafco forecast as a base, plan and consolidate freight to utilize maximum space and payload of the required aircraft/s based on the priority requirements .Prioritize all freight into theatre based on the customer’s requirements.
- Planning load schedules based on forecasts and actual freight available.
- Planning the most appropriate route for a shipment (taking into account the perishable or hazardous nature of the goods, cost, transit time and security).
- Timely and accurate information flow to key personnel both internal and external.
- Maintaining visibility and control through all phases of the supply chain via track and trace devises, including the production and daily management of reports and statistical data and unit cost analysis.
- Improve procedures and increase department productivity based on set KPI’s.
- Monitor and maintain KPI’s and daily cargo information thru the production of key reports.
- Working closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure operations to deadlines.
- Ability to delegate, coach and guide subordinates
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
· Detailed knowledge and proven experience in aircraft cargo load planning and load construction.
· Strong understanding of the commercial aviation industry transporting cargo with all types and sized aircraft.
· Extensive knowledge of Aviation Industry Operations.
· Strong background in handling cargo manifests
· Strong knowledge of customs regulations, freight clearance etc
· Strong knowledge of coordinating/moving freight, consolidation and load plans
· Excellent prioritisation skills

· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office Application, knowledge of EXCEL is must.
