Site Manager - Fuels - Logistics - German Speaker - Afghanistan

A great opportunity has arisen within a leading North European Supply Chain and Logistics company for an experienced Sit Manager with a strong background in Bulk Fuel Installations (BFI).

 

The successful Site Manager will be responsible for the control of fuel delivery and maintaining the Bulk fuel installation (BFI).

 

Primary Position Objectives:

· Management and control of fuel delivery to the Mazar e Sharif and Pol e Khomri areas.

· Submission of delivery information to head office.

· Fuel forecasts based on customer information.

· Handling of BFI/storage 1.5 million litres.

· Management of fuel operators

 

Secondary Position Objectives:

· Management and control of fuel delivery to other locations when required.

 

Specific Objectives:

You will be responsible for the successful establishment, improvement and maintenance of the following key areas to deliver optimum performance outcomes:

 

· Monitor the progress of convoys to your location, informing the customer daily of progress.

· Submit a monthly forecast of fuel requirements after liaison with customers.

· Stock reconciliation of BFI.

 

Be responsible for operations to lead logistic and operational activities, e.g.:

· Staffing levels within your areas of responsibility including maintenance staff to repair and service the bulk fuel installation,

· Stockholding and inventory forecasting advice related to your area of responsibility,

· Planning and execution of stock takes related to your area of responsibility,

· Local procurement where authorized,

· OH and S within your area of responsibility,

· Management of sub contractors engaged on infrastructure maintenance tasks,

 

Implement and manage a preventative maintenance schedule for the: repair, inspection and maintenance of all operational and general support equipment such as :

· Tools

· Filters

· Generators

· Meters

· Hoses

 

Performance Objectives:

· Knowledge of capacities and stock on hand

· Knowledge of convoy locations

· Equipment Availability improvement

· Contractor Performance improvement

· Inventory Record Accuracy (IRA) of Maintenance and Infrastructure stocks

 

Development of the Role:

Establish protocols for improved fuel delivery management. Develop operating procedures during expansion of the clients roles and responsibilities e.g. when new contracts are awarded.

 

Experience/Qualifications:

· Proven leadership, management and Change Management experience in fuel.

· Experience working in a fuel environment.

· Proven ability to work in remote, arduous locations, or a clearly expressed commitment to do so for 12 months.

 

Skills/Attributes

· Advanced computer skills, database management and spreadsheet development

· Knowledge and application of contemporary fuel management and quality control

· Business process improvement skills and experience.

 

Position/Environmental Conditions:

· Remote locations

· Medium to High Security Threat

· International travel at short notice if required

· Group accommodation

· Military/NGO and selected Diplomatic customer base.

-          To ensure that all items of company property whilst in my possession are treated in a responsible manner.

-          To ensure that all regulations relating to the safety of equipment and personnel are adhered to.

-          Ensure that the companies Health and Safety procedures are adhered to at all times.

 

General

To recommend and discuss with the Country Manager any improvements to the system/procedures which you think may be beneficial to the company operations

 

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

-          Proven ability to lead, manage a fundamental part of an isolated and successful business

-          Ability to work in an international, dynamic and multicultural environment.

-          Extensive knowledge of fuel delivery and safety requirements.

-          Can adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.

-          Good oral and written communication skills in English are essential.

-          Good oral and written communication skills in German are essential.

-          Experienced PC User, familiar with MS Office, email and Internet.

 

Contract package

-          5,000 - 5,500 EUR per month, at the current exchange rate this equates 6,800 - 7,500 USD  OR 4,500 - 4,950 GBP per month.  

-          10 weeks work / 3 weeks leave

-          4 yearly travels to home country

-          Free housing
