Power Generation Technical Supervisor – Kandahar Air Field (KAF), Afghanistan

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and committed Power Generation Technical Supervisor to work for a leading North American Defence Contracting company within their operations on Kandahar Air Field (KAF), Afghanistan.

 

This job based inside the camp, the entire role is based within the wire. Life on Kandahar is not as austere as one may think; there are over 25,000 people on the base. The base itself is more like a small town and boasts various dining facilities, gyms, a nightclub, Burger King, Pizza hut, Starbucks, a hockey Rink, wireless internet and libraries etc.

 

 

The successful Power Generation Technical Supervisor will be responsible for providing Supervision to EGS Technicians and EGS Assistants. To ensure Maintenance Programme  is adhered to, and to ensure all repairs and remedial works are carried out in accordance with the Contract requirements  and to ensure Health and Safety standards are met in the EGS Workshop and on site. In addition to this you will be responsible for:

 

·         Supervision and Guidance of staff

·         Health and Safety of Department

·         Ensure PPM programme is adhered to

·         Give Technical advice to staff

·         Identify and order critical spares and materials

·         Co-ordinate repairs

·         Attend call outs

·         Oversee generator rebuilds

 

The Power Generation Technical Supervisor should have:

 

·         Should possess a good level of knowledge of diesel engines, petrol engines, electronics   of power generated engines, machines and tools, outdoor power equipment and other small engines including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

·         Will have experience of repairing machines or systems using the appropriate tools, performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed, determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

·         Should be able to read from drawings

·         Will know how to conduct tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance

·         Will be familiar with installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications, determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job

·         Will have the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions, servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical principles

·         Good man management skills

·         Knowledge of Health and Safety

 

Certifications:

·         Trade recognised Qualification

·         Time served apprenticeship

 

Equipment Experience:

·          

·         Hand tools

·         Power tools

·         Forklift

·         Hoists

·         Engine rebuild equipment

·         Specialist tooling

 

Package :

 

30,000 EUR per annum.

Rotation is 6 months in, 1 month out

Food, Accommodation, Laundry, Flights etc are all provided.
